This is a follow-up to a closed thread that I found about the triggers on an Xbox one controller not working on some PC games, where the OP did not get a response that met their needs. I am a long-term, casual Windows desktop user who is just starting to dabble in video games. I found that all the buttons on the controller worked except RT accelerate and LT brake. I checked that the w and s keys on my keyboard did perform these functions so I experimented with the Steam and Redout settings until I found a combination that enabled the trigger buttons also to perform these functions, as follows:.
Select Steam at top left on Steam application home page, then settings, controller, general controller settings, xbox configuration support. Select Done, return to app home page and right-click game Redout in the games list of the left pane. Click on Properties.

Tech Specs. Yet, some Windows devices come with Xbox Wireless built-in. So, you can connect a controller directly without an adapter. Using Xbox Wireless, also, you can connect 8 controllers or 4 controllers that have Xbox Chat Headsets attached at the same time. The new and powerful Windows 11 will bring you many benefits.
At the same time, it will also bring you some unexpected damages such as data loss. I followed your instructions for both. I tried selecting ONLY the Generic Box checked, completely restarted steam, checked the controller setting again and saw that my controller was identified by steam. I'm at a loss for words here.
There's got to be something else wrong here. I find it incredibly hard to believe that Steam would recognize all of my controller buttons for one game but not others. Try resetting the controller in-game to default? Did you double-check the Controller via JOY. CPL and also Properties in that? Yes, I did double-check the controller via JOY. You've been very helpful, but unfortunately the solution to my problem is still a mystery. I'm attempting to get live chat support from Microsoft on the problem.
If that doesn't work, I'm guessing my only other option is to buy a new controller and hope it works. But yea, everything working but those two triggers seems odd. I have the exact same problem as the thread opener. Xbox One Wireless Controller is working fine in any other application.
But as soon as it comes to Steam, both of my triggers stop working. I also have tried installing older drivers and many of the proposed solutions above, but nothing worked.
